Around the World in 80 Picture Books

Around the World in 80 Picture Books In-Person

From New York to Beijing to Bratislava to Mexico City, the illustrated children’s book has become a vibrant global enterprise. The Rye Free Reading room and The Committee to Save The Bird Homestead welcome Leonard Marcus as he presents a wide-ranging pictorial tour of the landmark books for children. These titles defined the children’s picture book for over two centuries and influenced the cultural trends and new technologies that have fueled the explosive growth of this deceptively simple art form.

Suggested donation of $30 per person.

This program, offered as a collaboration between The Rye Free Reading Room and The Committee to Save The Bird Homestead celebrates Doris Bird's lifelong passion to children's literature and the Bird family's contributions to Rye and the world at large.

The program will take place at the Rye Meeting House, 624 Milton Road, Rye NY.
